Safeguarding
Our commitment to child protection and safe practice.
Every child in our care has the right to be safe
Safeguarding is central to everything we do. Our policies, trustee training and on-the-ground practice are designed to protect the children and vulnerable adults in the communities we serve.
Our commitments
-
A written safeguarding policy is reviewed annually by the board of trustees.
-
A named designated safeguarding lead at the trustee level.
-
UK trustees hold up-to-date DBS (enhanced) checks where applicable.
-
Staff and volunteers in Ibanda are inducted on safe recruitment and safe practice.
-
Visitors, corporate volunteers and photographers work under a signed code of conduct.
-
All imagery and stories are used with informed consent, in accordance with child dignity guidelines.
Reporting a concern
Anyone with a safeguarding concern — a beneficiary, staff member, partner, volunteer or member of the public — can raise it in confidence with our designated safeguarding lead.
Working with partners
Corporate partners, visiting volunteers and photographers work under our safeguarding framework. We are happy to share our full policy on request for due-diligence purposes — please contact partnerships@mushungaproject.org.
