FROM AID TO ENTERPRISE

Why community development runs through everything we do
Long-term change in rural Uganda requires more than outside funding. It requires strong local leadership, consistent on-the-ground delivery, and infrastructure that continues serving the community over time. At Mushunga, community development connects the school, the farm, the water system and the care we provide for children into one long-term approach.
Our farm is a good example. It provides food for the boarding kitchen, income to the wider project, and paid work for people in the surrounding villages. Coffee, maize, chickens, and cattle are chosen because they generate cash on different rhythms — weekly, seasonal, and multi-year — smoothing income and reducing exposure to any single crop or price shock.
Alongside the farm, we invest in women's savings groups, livelihoods training and outreach to the most vulnerable families in the parish. The goal is a community that needs the charity less over time, not more.

WOMEN AT THE CENTER
Because when mothers earn, children stay in school
Strong communities are built on the systems that support children and families. That is why our community work focuses on practical, long-term investments in education, agriculture, clean water and care for children — creating a stronger foundation for the future of the community.
Our community development work focuses on strengthening the systems that support children and families. Through education, agriculture, clean water and care for children, we aim to create practical, long-term improvements that extend beyond a single project or funding cycle.
Corporate and foundation partners help fund the infrastructure, education and essential services that support long-term community development. Progress is tracked through agreed impact indicators and reported clearly to partners.
