A HOME, NOT A BUILDING
Where vulnerable children become family
The Mushunga orphanage provides a safe, caring home for children who have lost their parents or come from extremely vulnerable backgrounds. Here they receive shelter, daily meals, education, healthcare, and the emotional support they need to thrive.
Every child who joins Mushunga receives the same care, love, and opportunity as every other child. Through our sponsorship programme, supporters worldwide can directly walk alongside a specific child's journey.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
Everything a child needs to feel safe and loved
Safe home
Secure, fully fenced premises with around-the-clock supervision.
Dormitory beds
Comfortable beds and bedding for restful nights.
Daily meals
Nutritious meals served every day — three times a day.
On-site school
Direct access to Victorious Community School from the orphanage.
Healthcare
Medical support and treatment when children need it.
Emotional care
A loving, family-like environment with mentorship and pastoral care.
Evening study
Reliable lighting from our inverter installation for homework time.
Protection
A safe space where children — especially girls — are kept far from harm.
BOARDING SECTION
Expanding to keep more children safe
Victorious Community School has expanded to include a boarding section. Children from high-risk environments can now stay at VCS in the care of trained teachers.
This expansion helps reduce school dropouts and protects vulnerable children — especially girls — by keeping them fully engaged in school activities throughout the week, away from the dangers some face at home or in the wider community.
THE CHALLENGE
More children than beds
Demand for a safe home far exceeds the space we currently have. Because of limited dormitory capacity at the orphanage, not all of the children we sponsor are able to live on-site.
Many sponsored children continue to live with extended family or guardians in the surrounding community while still receiving education, meals, healthcare and pastoral care through the project. Expanding our boarding capacity is a top priority so that every vulnerable child who needs a safe place to sleep can have one.
“Every child who walks through our gate becomes part of the Mushunga family — for life.”
— MUSHUNGA COMMUNITY PROJECT
NEW ARRIVALS
Welcoming new children
We continue to welcome new children into the program. Each child who joins Mushunga receives the same love, the same education, and the same opportunity. As facilities expand, we can offer this lifeline to even more orphaned and vulnerable children across the region.
